About Me

Jeremy Dumont (born 1987) began studying the violin at age 5. Following a period as a chorister with the RTBF Choir, he switched to piano at age 12, studying under concert pianist Karin Lechner. He completed his secondary education with a focus on classical piano at the Arthur Grumiaux Conservatory in Charleroi, while he also took a jazz improvisation course under Thomas De Prins. Jeremy spent a year at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp, participating in numerous workshops in Belgium and abroad. He also pursued private lessons in classical piano with Geneviève Vandermeulen and jazz with Ivan Paduart and Eric Vermeulen. Later, he joined the Royal Conservatory of Brussels to study under Eric Legnini, and graduated with distinction with a Master's degree in 2013. During this time, he performed extensively in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg.

Jeremy musical exploration spans a variety of styles, with jazz as a core influence. He founded several ensembles, including The Unexpected 4, Jeremy Dumont Trio, Solid Steps Quintet, and Brussels Pop Masters, while also collaborating as a sideman with numerous other ensembles.

In 2010, his quartet won first prize at the Dinant Jazz Nights Young Talents competition in Belgium. In 2012, his trio secured first prize at the Comblain-la-Tour Festival Young Formations competition in Belgium. In November 2012, he was a finalist in the Boris Vian International Piano Competition in Ville-d'Avray, France, and in 2013, he was nominated for the SABAM-Jeunesses Musicales Jazz Award.

Jeremy released his debut album, Resurrection, in 2015—a trio recording featuring guest artist Fabrice Alleman. The album was followed by a tour across major clubs and festivals in Belgium and France, as well as participation in the "Jazz Tour" organized by Lundis d'Hortense.

In 2017, Jeremy became the resident piano teacher at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp.

His musical journey took an exciting turn in New York, where he formed The New York Project Quartet. The ensemble toured Belgium in December 2018 and January 2019.

In the USA, he crossed paths with American saxophonist Godwin Louis, which led to the formation of a quintet with whom he has toured internationally since 2018. Together, they recorded Jeremy’s second album, Eretz, at Jet Studio in Brussels, with mixing handled by Dave Darlington in New York. In 2022 and 2024, the “Jeremy Dumont feat. Godwin Louis” band toured Europe, featuring Jean-Paul Estiévenart (trumpet), Géraud Portal (bass), and Harvel Nakundi (drums).

Jeremy has consistently embraced diverse musical experiences, ranging from groove to electro-funk, while remaining rooted in jazz. He has refined his craft with legendary musicians such as Fred Hersch and Johnny O’Neal. In July 2019, he toured Europe with Etienne Charles’ quintet.

In 2022, Jeremy revisited his earlier compositions and created new works, integrating a string quartet into his core ensemble.

He also initiated unique projects such as the Elektric Band, a tribute to Chick Corea, and has taken on roles as composer, arranger, and musical director for large ensembles, including Soul Trigger (Toots Jazz Festival 2014) and Eleven for Ten (International Jazz Day 2021). Additionally, he has contributed to the production of emerging artists.

Over the years, Jeremy has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Or Bareket, Hermon Mehari, Richard Rousselet, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, Fabrice Alleman, Reggie Washington, and Jean-François Prins.

With a wealth of experience and a dynamic creative vision, Jeremy Dumont offers a rich and diverse musical palette, blending various styles, forms, and ensemble configurations.
